Joshua Tree, California is a world renowned camping area and wilderness preserve located in the southern parts of California, this area is most known for its Joshua Trees, that were named such by Mormon settlers passing through the area located in the Mojave Desert sometime in the 19th century A.D.
Sam’s Indian Food & The main entrance to the park lies in a sleepy little town of the same name Joshua Tree, the streets here are adorned with vintage shops and constructs of a largely bygone era. Tattered shirts and faded jeans are as welcome in this vast and striking wasteland on the edge of the world as suits and ties. A place where time slows a bit, and things begin to shift, the air has a note of mystery north of nowhere and west of not quite where?. Maybe it is the art. Maybe it is the music, Maybe it is just its soul, still living from a more simple time. Ravaged buildings stand monolithic and alone down many a dirt road here where property values increase by 20% or more a year you would think they had no value at all, but they do. They are as known to the locals as their own misshapen dwellings and such. Barbed fences and twisted sheets of rusted metal are the preference, modernism a thing of beauty against such a wild and unkempt backdrop. Ask a passerby about why they are here and you will find dwellers and vagabonds of each and every caliber walking this way and that, from noteworthy rock climbers on their way to dangle in the sun from some distant slope or boulder, to a famous rock musician or two, maybe even your 4th grade art teacher ! And for a fact Fred Armisen has been known to stop in for some fried zucchini… I should know I forgot his order of them and returned to the undisclosed location to hand them to none other than he himself, did you say clay? (Brooklyn Nine Nine reference in tact)
Joshua Tree is the place to be if you are seeking refuge from the hustle and bustle of city life and need to escape to a place where you can actually feel… away. A place of music, art, climbing, 4 wheeling, friending, hanging out with your family, living, swimming, walking, running, biking, and eating! Make memories they are important, take time to appreciate the flowers, even if they are cacti, 8ft tall, and stuck to you, or rolling around on the ground, life is happening. It isn’t waiting, its moving, it is fluid. Come to the park, support local business, this part of the world breathes from the contributions of ‘The Season’. In that way this is a real life Never Never Land, a place that thrives on your belief that it does exist, and grows on your social interactions here. Not just Joshua Tree, each and every community surrounding this area, Pioneertown, 29 Palms, Wonder Valley, Landers, all in this together. Your visit to the park literally feeds the families in every one of the communities listed and then some.
Some of the most dramatic sunsets I have seen lie within the boundaries of such magical places as Indian Cove, Landers, and beyond. if you are seeking a great place to take a trip, escape, relax, meditate, exercise, lay around, create an album, become an art master of the boulder mountain. Think about Joshua Tree as a possible destination, stop in at Sam’s and get a bite, say hi! We will be waiting to serve you. Thank You.
